High Dynamic Range
Shooting and Editing in HDR allows the photographer to compensate for high contrast conditions. Contrast is defined as the differences between black and white, light and dark. Shooting a furnished room with a window presents quite a challenge. Where do you choose to expose? A brightly exposed area through a window, a dark cabinet or perhaps a beige wall? You can’t get all elements properly exposed with one image, so we shoot multiple exposures (+2, +1 and -2) and blend them in post production to replicate what the human eye can capture instantly.
In this image, you have very dark floors, light walls, dark furniture and windows with highly detailed patterns that if over or under exposed would lose the detail.
Shiny surfaces, exteriors, dark cabinetry and light fixtures can play havoc with the cameras exposure.
We’re working with exteriors, light and dark walls, light and dark furniture and yet it all feels natural after layering the exposures.
